Our reporter interviewed Gigi Ziccheddu, the newly appointed CEO of STK Europe.

Malta Pro-Business Environment

"First, the new base for the company's international operations in Malta provided an excellent base for growing the business in Europe and beyond," Mr Ziccheddu said with conviction.  "Thanks to Malta's truly pro-business environment, we were able to leverage the company's strengths in the Italian market and to set our eyes on France and Spain."
The company's offices were the first commercial tenants at Smart City and were inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Malta in March 2014.  At the time, STK Europe had announced its planned job creation.  The company's headcount to date stands at 30 with plans to more than double this in 2016 with expansion of the company's SmartCity offices.

New Malta e-Commerce Platform to be launched

The launch of a new e-commerce platform for the company will open up the Spanish market and later France, Germany, UK and the rest of Europe. This will happen in parallel with the opening of dedicated customer care services for each market, leading to a headcount of 60 to cover 10 languages representing the most important markets.
Despite a challenging world economic environment, it is clear that 2015 has been a good year for STK Europe.  The more recent milestone being the in-housing of the company's logistical base and its location in Zebbug, Malta in collaboration with strategic partners Thomas Smith and BRT S.P.A..  This has already seen the creation of twelve jobs in Malta with another thirty being created in the coming year.

Malta Growth Formula for international e-commerce company

We met the e-commerce company's Malta lawyersChetcuti Cauchi Advocates and spoke to the managing partner, Dr Jean-Philippe Chetcuti:  "If you were to ask me what STK's success formula is, with Mr Ziccheddu's permission, is a focus on growing the business without losing sight of the people that drive it and the stimulating environment necessary for all parts of the puzzle to come together.  In recent years, Malta has grown into a vibrant international business community and has attracted a formidable mix of highly-skilled and high calibre talent necessary to take an outward looking company into the international playing field."
